Several inches of snow likely this weekend across Michigan

After a small system passed through Michigan on Thursday morning , attention is now turning to Saturday night.

A snow system is looking more likely across mid-Michigan on Saturday night into Sunday morning, with the potential for several inches of snow across the region.

“There is potential for a 3 to 6-inch type snowfall near to north of I-96 with locally higher amounts where banding is most prevalent/persistent,” the Grand Rapids NWS said . “Potential for a wintry mix of precipitation should keep snow amounts lower than that south of I-96. Travel impacts are anticipated across our area Saturday and Saturday night.”

AccuWeather currently gives Big Rapids a 54% chance of seeing 3-6 inches of snow and a 42% chance of seeing 1-3 inches. Up north around Manistee, AccuWeather is more aggressive in it’s snowfall forecast , giving the area a 48% chance of seeing 6-10 inches of snow and a 46% chance of seeing 3-6 inches of snow…
