Seymour woman pleads to reduced charges in infant crash death

WEBSTER COUNTY, Mo. — A Seymour woman has pleaded guilty to reduced charges in connection with a buggy accident that left an infant dead in June 2023.

Court records show that Julia M. Young was in court on Feb. 4 and pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner under a plea agreement. The agreement dismissed the other two charges against her (involuntary manslaughter and failure to maintain financial responsibility).

On June 6, 2023, Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) troopers responded to a crash on State Highway C, two miles north of Seymour. Young’s Mercedes rear-ended a buggy, ejecting an infant and two others, Sammy W. Schwartz and Barbara Schwartz.
