Longtime Wilmington restaurant closes after more than 31 years in business

A popular longtime restaurant near Wrightsville Beach has closed. A sign from U.S. Bankruptcy Court is posted on the door, advising visitors that they cannot enter the property.

Sweet n Savory first opened at 1611 Pavilion Place in Wilmington in 1994, with a bakery and menu featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner favorites. It has since become a staple of the local food scene. Food Network star Guy Fieri even visited the restaurant in 2018.

Longtime owner Robert Shapiro said he had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to reorganize the business but that it has since been converted to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. According to U.S. Courts, this allows for the liquidation and sale of the property, where proceeds then go to creditors…
