Contestant Snubs Drew Carey for Model on ‘Price is Right’

Additional Coverage:

A “Price is Right” contestant named Raymond recently gave host Drew Carey the cold shoulder, opting to shake a model’s hand instead of the host’s. Raymond had just played Punch A Bunch, a game involving punching through cards for cash prizes.

In Punch A Bunch, contestants can keep the amount on a revealed card or risk it for another. Raymond played strategically, discarding two $250 cards before settling on a $2,500 prize. He wisely skipped the final card, which turned out to be worth $1,000.

After the game, Carey extended his hand, but Raymond brushed past him, saying he wanted to shake the model’s hand instead. Adding insult to injury, Raymond even bumped into Carey on his way back.

While this snub seemed unusual, Raymond had shaken Carey’s hand earlier after winning the $2,500. This makes the later snub even more curious.

Contestant enthusiasm is common on “The Price is Right,” but this incident stands out. Carey, a veteran host, has seen it all, but this may be a first.

He’s even experienced the opposite extreme. Another contestant, Sona, was so excited she literally tackled Carey, causing them both to tumble to the stage floor.

Carey, ever the professional, laughed off the fall, while Sona went on to win $3,000 in the Pass The Buck game.
