Albany Homicide Suspect Leonardo Guzman Faces Court

Leonardo Guzman, a 34-year-old man from Schenectady, is expected to appear in court today (February 7) in connection with Albany’s first homicide of the year. Guzman faces charges of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for his alleged involvement in the death of Dewitt Miller.

The incident occurred on Thursday (January 30) around 5:40 p.m. on Central Avenue. According to News10, police responded to reports of a shooting and found Miller, 30, with a gunshot wound to his groin. Emergency responders transported him to Albany Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Guzman was identified as a suspect and taken into custody shortly after the shooting. He was arraigned at Albany City Criminal Court and is currently held at Albany County Jail. If convicted of murder, Guzman could face a sentence of 25 years to life in prison…
