Texas Wildfire Warning Issued—Live Tracker

A fire weather watch has been issued for parts of Texas as dry conditions and strong winds increase the risk of wildfires.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Amarillo has warned that Moore County in Texas as well as Cimarron County in Oklahoma are at heightened risk, with the alert effective till 7 p.m. CST Friday.

The combination of dry vegetation, low humidity, and gusty winds poses a significant fire threat in the region. According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, rural fire departments in the Lone Star state handle approximately 80 percent of wildfires often relying on volunteers and limited resources.

Officials warn that any fires that develop could spread rapidly and be difficult to contain.
