Clean energy milestone: Solar project set to power 52,000 homes in Kalamazoo County

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Consumers Energy announced Friday plans for a utility-scale solar project in Kalamazoo County near Richland Twp.

The project aims to bring 220 Megawatts (MW) of renewable energy online by 2027. Work on the project is slated to begin in 2026.

The project is a part of Consumers Energy’s Clean Energy Plan. The plan aims to add over 8,000MW of renewable energy by 2040. They said the project is a significant step in the company’s “commitment to protecting the environment while creating jobs and bettering the local economy.”…
