N.Y. weather: More than a foot of snow possible for parts of state

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. —Whether it’s only a couple of inches or more than a foot, New York will see snow.

A winter storm roaring in from the west will bring accumulating snow and wintry precipitation across the state beginning as early as Saturday afternoon.

Over in Western New York, that snow could begin in the late afternoon hours. Those in Central and Eastern New York can expect to see that precipitation begin to fall in the early evening hours, between 6 and 9 p.m., according to Tom Kines, a senior meteorologist with AccuWeather.
