18-year-old leads high-speed chase, asks trooper why their car isn’t faster

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A West Palm Beach teen led troopers on a 120 mph chase on Wednesday that landed his SUV in a canal and the 18-year-old behind bars.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers say at 2 a.m. they observed an SUV driven by Lorenzo Alberto Oliva going 115 mph in a 70 mph zone on I-95 around mile marker 128 in St. Lucie County.

According to FHP, a trooper attempted to overtake the vehicle with lights and sirens activated, however, Oliva continued speeding eventually reaching a top speed of 120 mph…
