A Tavares woman was arrested on drug charges after an officer discovered trafficking amounts of methamphetamine on her person during a traffic stop.
An officer observed the driver of a green Isuzu Rodeo SUV, later identified as 47-year-old Rhonda Jomarie Waldron, traveling southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 without a seat belt across her chest at 8:51 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
The officer tried to maneuver his patrol vehicle behind the SUV, and he watched the vehicle change lanes multiple times, seemingly in an attempt to avoid him. As the SUV approached the red light at the intersection with Miller Street, it changed from the center to the far-left lane directly in front of another vehicle and quickly hit the brakes, the report said.
The SUV changed lanes across the solid white line, indicating the change was within 100ft of the intersection. Once the light changed, the officer continued maneuvering behind the vehicle before initiating a traffic stop using emergency lights at Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., Leesburg, the report said…
