Four friends to row 2,800 miles from California to Hawaii to support community organizations

In a daring feat, Team Rising Tide, a group of four friends, will embark on the World’s Toughest Row, an arduous 2,800-mile race from Monterey, CA to Hanalei, HI, in Summer 2027, the group announced.

The team, made up of SCUBA and sailing instructors, is on a mission to raise $500,000 for marine conservation. Over 30-50 days, they will row in two-hour shifts, battling the open Pacific Ocean, all while supporting organizations like San Diego Coastkeeper and Heirs to Our Ocean.

The crew will convene in San Diego for intensive training ahead of their monumental challenge. “It’s on a different order of magnitude,” says team member Tim Linsell.
