Scottsdale, AZ – Tragedy struck Scottsdale Airport Monday afternoon when a Learjet 35A crashed into a parked Gulfstream 200 business jet. The accident, occurring around 2:45 p.m. local time, resulted in one fatality and four injuries.

Preliminary reports indicate the Learjet’s left landing gear malfunctioned upon landing on Runway 21, causing the aircraft to veer off course and collide with the parked Gulfstream. The Learjet had arrived from Austin, Texas.

Emergency responders confirmed one person died on impact. Efforts to recover the victim continued into the evening.

Two other individuals sustained critical injuries and were transported to local trauma centers. Another person was taken to a local hospital, while a fourth declined treatment at the scene.

The Learjet is reportedly owned by Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil. Representatives for Neil confirmed he was not on board the aircraft at the time of the incident. They described the situation as “rapidly evolving” and offered thoughts and prayers for those involved.

The operator of the Gulfstream, Jet Pros, LLC, confirmed no one was aboard their parked aircraft. While the Gulfstream sustained external damage, there were no injuries to anyone on the ground. The company expressed condolences and thanked first responders.

Jet Pros clarified that the Learjet had two pilots and two passengers on board, but did not release the identities of the victims or specify who was injured or killed.

Scottsdale Airport briefly suspended all flights following the crash but reopened approximately six hours later.

Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky expressed condolences to the victims and their families and praised the rapid response of emergency personnel. The Scottsdale Fire Department and Scottsdale Police Department, along with other emergency responders, remained on the scene into the evening.

The National Transportation Safety Board has taken over the investigation.
