Post Office Closing Next Week

Additional Coverage:

Local post offices will be closed next Monday, February 17, for Presidents’ Day. The federal holiday honors all U.S. presidents.

Although some states don’t officially recognize Presidents’ Day, the postal service will be closed nationwide.

Unlike the post office, UPS, FedEx, and Amazon will continue to operate on Monday. UPS often handles larger packages and provides international shipping.

This marks the fourth postal service closure this year. Previous closures occurred for New Year’s Day, the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter, and Martin Luther King Day.

Federal offices, schools, and libraries will also be closed for Presidents’ Day. The stock exchange will also be closed.

However, most private businesses, including stores, restaurants, and pharmacies, will remain open.

Presidents’ Day has been celebrated for 145 years.
