(WPDE) — On this day 52 years ago, Feb. 11, one of the biggest blizzards in South Carolina’s recorded history was wrapping up, ending with extremely rare totals in the Pee Dee, Border Belt, Grand Strand, and Midlands.
This event is often referred to as the Great Southeastern Snowstorm in meteorological records, spanning from Feb. 9 to Feb. 11. The blizzard dumped snow from Texas to Florida and Alabama, and to Virginia.
