ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Clear and sunny weather prevailed for many mainland Alaska locations Tuesday. Southeast Alaska is also seeing some winter sun and blue sky. But it is windy over the Aleutians and west coast, with that spread north and east over the latter half of the week.
Dry conditions held in the state’s largest city. Typically Anchorage gets about 12 to 13 inches of snow in February. But with zero inches recorded, that brings Anchorage to nearly three feet below the normal levels of snow for this time of year.
A ridge of high pressure continues to provide dry weather for inland, southcentral, and panhandle areas. Low pressure is circulating over the Aleutians and Bering Sea, and it will slowly erode the western edge of the ridge of high pressure. That will allow clouds to eventually move back into southcentral over the late weekend and that means a chance of snow…
