SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – As we continue to see flu cases climb across the Ozarks and the state, Missouri is now in the “High” category according to the CDC’s flu map. Arkansas is in the “Very High” category.
“There’s typically always, at least, one peak in the flu season, sometimes that comes a little earlier, sometimes it comes a little, we’re kind of right in the middle of a typical flu season right now,” said Nathan Koffarnus, an epidemiologist with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. “This isn’t totally unexpected for us to see an increase, but we definitely, as a state, seem to be on the upward trend right now.”
