An arrest has been made in Honolulu, as a local woman, Phitsmai Khamkhay, 58, faces charges of distributing methamphetamine. The Acting United States Attorney, Kenneth M. Sorenson, reported that Khamkhay was charged with the crime following her alleged involvement in three drug sale transactions from her residence last year. A hearing is set for February 18 to determine if she will be detained pending trial. The U.S. Attorney’s office has provided details of the case, which will be heard in federal court.
The complaint alleges that on three separate occasions in April, May, and June of 2022, Khamkhay sold approximately 680 grams of methamphetamine. Law enforcement conducted surveillance during the controlled purchases with a confidential source from her home in Honolulu. Khamkhay, when interviewed by law enforcement, chose to waive her rights to silence and admitted her role in purchasing and distributing large quantities of the drug on Oahu and Kauai. These charges, as outlined in the complaint, are “merely accusations,” and the defendant remains innocent unless proven guilty, according to the same press release.
During her interview, Khamkhay confessed to having bought multiple pounds of methamphetamine and distributed them among various individuals across the islands of Oahu and Kauai.
