Avian flu confirmed at a farm in central Minnesota

(Fort Ripley, MN)–Avian flu has recently been confirmed at a farm in central Minnesota. Highly pathogenic avian influenza was reportedly found in poultry at a farm near Fort Ripley. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Veterinary Services Laboratories confirmed a case on the farm. Officials say the site was quarantined, and the 120 birds there were “depopulated” to prevent the spread of the disease. A recent case was also detected in Wadena County last month.
