Heading to Tahoe this weekend? Brace for ice, traffic and another round of snow

A winter storm is sweeping through the Sierra Nevada ahead of Presidents Day weekend, bringing fresh snow to Tahoe resorts — but also creating tricky travel conditions on major highways.

While the worst of the storm is expected to clear out by Friday night, road conditions could remain treacherous due to lingering ice and ongoing snow removal efforts. Caltrans has implemented chain controls on all Sierra highways and is warning drivers to expect delays.
