After some thunderstorms late Friday night we have scattered showers continuing over southeastern portions of our viewing area Saturday morning. Rain will come to an end a bit later in the morning and then we’ll have a brief break before additional showers move back in. Temperatures Saturday afternoon will reach the mid 40s. Another band of precipitation will move in with a cold front this afternoon and slowly progress across the viewing area. As cold air filters in behind this system, we’ll see a brief changeover to a wintry mix and then all snow for the evening into tonight. Amounts should stay light with less than 1″ of accumulation expected. Additionally, ground surfaces will initially be above freezing so these light accumulations look to stay limited to mainly elevated and grassy surfaces. Winds begin to ramp up tonight and will stay quite gusty through Sunday along with Arctic air pouring in. This combination will lead to temperatures in the 20s and wind chills in the teens. Skies will stay mostly cloudy.
For the next week we are tracking bitterly cold temperatures and another chance for accumulating snow. Daytime high temperatures in the coming days will stay in the teens with overnight lows near or below zero Wednesday and Thursday nights. We are tracking another storm system which could bring us another round of (unwanted) snow through much of Tuesday with snow showers again Wednesday…
