Those familiar with driving Colorado’s mountainous stretch of I-70 are fully aware that travel along this route can be unpredictable during winter months. Steep grades, winding curves, and heavy traffic coupled with heavy snow indeed seems to be a recipe for disaster at times.
The extreme nature of this route was recently showcased in a clip that’s going viral online, capturing an avalanche that crashed down alongside the route in the area of Ten Mile Canyon, which is between Frisco and Copper Mountain. The slide occurred at about 9 a.m. on Monday morning, when traffic related to Presidents Day Weekend was heavy.
