Lake effect snow (finally!) starts winding down in Central NY

Syracuse, N.Y. — The pounding of lake effect snow that Central New York has endured over the past week is finally winding down.

A few more inches of snow could fall today, especially on Tug Hill, but the storm system that dragged cold air across the Great Lakes is dissipating. The National Weather Service has called off lake effect snow warnings for all but a few counties on the southwest shore of Lake Ontario.

There’s still plenty of digging out to be done. Oswego County, which saw the biggest snow totals over the past week, remains under a travel advisory today…
