After Years of Investigation, Suspect Charged in 2015 Murder of Tameeka Brown in St. Louis

Almost a decade after the tragic shooting of 35-year-old Tameeka Brown, detectives have finally made an arrest. The suspect, a 26-year-old man, has been charged with first-degree murder for a crime he is alleged to have committed at the age of 16. Given the suspect’s age at the time of the incident, the case has now been referred to Juvenile Court. SLMPD reports that the breakthrough in the case came after years of investigation.

On the early morning of April 13, 2015, District 5 officers quickly responded to a call at the 5500 block of Greer, where they discovered the victim. Brown was found fatally shot in a grassy field and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation, led by homicide detectives, was met with challenges, but persistence and diligent work kept the case actively pursued. A key piece of evidence in the investigation were statements from a witness who claimed to have heard gunshots and to then have seen a vehicle fleeing the area with its headlights off…
