Man accused of trying to break into Opelousas pharmacy; suspected in other pharmacy burglaries, including Evangeline Parish

OPELOUSAS, La. — An officer with the Opelousas Police Department observed a suspect attempting to break into Lagniappe Pharmacy, located in the 1700 block of South Union Street in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 18, around 1 a.m.

Upon the officer’s approach, the suspect fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle, which was parked at an abandoned home nearby. Upon investigation, it appeared that the suspect had injured himself during his attempt to gain entry into the pharmacy.

Officers began a search of the area, which led them to a man several blocks away who matched the description of the suspect. The individual was identified as Jean Anderson of Opelousas and he was arrested without further incident…
