OPELOUSAS, La. (KPEL News) – An Opelousas firefighter is being hailed as a hero after going above and beyond during a house fire Tuesday night.
The Opelousas Fire Department was responding to a house fire that had engulfed a family home. That’s when the aptly named Blaze Barras noticed one of the family members – a dog named Ace – was unresponsive.
A Heroic Rescue Amid the Flames
According to reports, Ace was found lifeless inside the burning home. Barras grabbed the dog and brought him outside. Despite appearing to have succumbed to the smoke, Barras performed chest compressions and used his personal air supply on the dog.
