VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — There have been 175 crashes and nine reported injuries in the Hampton Roads region since noon Wednesday, according to Virginia State Police.
State troopers responded to 354 incidents, with the majority of them involving a driver who spun out of control and was driving too fast for the weather conditions.
State Police urge people to slow down for road and weather conditions and use headlights for visibility while giving plenty of distance between yourself and other vehicles. It said people should be aware of all emergency vehicles, as well as Virginia Department of Transportation and tow truck drivers.
VSP calls on those who must travel to use headlines, slow down, don’t tailgate, wear seatbelts, check your vehicle to make sure it’s in good working order and says people should have adequate supplies for the conditions, such as a window scraper, a blanket, bottled water, a snack, a cell phone charger and a flashlight…
