South Carolina store worker arrested for allegedly scratching off lottery tickets

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — A South Carolina convenience store employee has been arrested and charged with tampering with lottery tickets while searching for a winner.

The South Carolina Education Lottery requested that state agents investigate, which led to the arrest of 29-year-old Christopher Alexander Konwai on Feb. 3. According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Konwai scratched off lottery tickets to see if they were winners and then slid them back into the dispenser to be sold.

A warrant for Konwai’s arrest stated that Konwai was an employee of Krishna of Summerville Inc. at 10002 Dorchester Road in Summerville when the incidents occurred, allegedly between Nov. 9 and 10, 2024. The warrant said Konwai was identified by store management and seen on surveillance cameras…
