Woman convicted in deadly DUI crash gets 8 years

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence woman convicted of driving drunk and causing a deadly crash more than seven years ago will spend at least eight years behind bars.

Yiranis Liz, 37, was found guilty back in December of driving while under the influence resulting in death and driving to endanger resulting in death.

Prosecutors said Liz lost control of her car while driving down I-95 South in Providence in October 2017. Liz’s car slammed into 38-year-old Andrea Bosworth, who was standing outside her parked vehicle in the breakdown lane.

Bosworth was hit with such force that she was propelled approximately 90 feet from the point of impact, according to prosecutors. She was critically wounded and rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where she died nearly a month later on Thanksgiving…
