Lafayette jury convicts man for 2020 deadly shooting outside convenience store on University Avenue

LAFAYETTE, La. — A Lafayette Parish jury convicted Kendell Ledet on Thursday, February 20, of the second-degree murder of Damian George at a convenience store on North University Avenue on September 19, 2020.

The jury heard evidence and testimony from Lafayette police officers and detectives that George stopped at the convenience store around 10:30 p.m. that evening. Ledet saw George and waited for him to exit the store, then shot him six times with a .40 caliber pistol. Ledet was arrested in East Baton Rouge Parish by members of the U.S. Marshall’s Violent Offender Task Force on September 23, 2020.
