After teacher’s indictment, licenses of other Chattanooga Prep teachers face scrutiny

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Ten days after a grand jury indicted a teacher from Chattanooga Preparatory School, the school’s governing body held a virtual quarterly meeting on Thursday. But board members made no mention of the controversy surrounding former 6th grade reading teacher Kenya White.

Chattanooga Preparatory School hired Kenya White after a criminal and DCS investigation began, but it’s unclear if they ever checked his background in the DCS system.

Although the governing body of the public charter school did not publicly discuss the controversy, it didn’t stop us from asking more questions.
