CLEVELAND — The Nordonia Hills City School District is laying off dozens of employees, including at least nine teachers, as part of a series of financial cuts after voters rejected the district’s levy last fall.
The cuts include four middle school teaching positions, more than five high school teaching positions and 24 other classroom jobs. The district has also issued a buyout offer to all employees, the results of which are set to be finalized by the end of February. The district said additional staffing cuts “will be necessary.”
The district will also cut several programs including German language classes, high school in-school suspension, and social-emotional learning curriculum for middle and high school students, and reduce custodial and student supervisor jobs.
