A North Carolina child died after reportedly ingesting fentanyl. Police said the mother has been arrested a year later and in Colorado

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Police in North Carolina say a mother was arrested more than 1,500 miles away a year after her child died from ingesting a lethal dose of fentanyl.

The Mooresville Police Department announced Friday that 23-year-old Riley Tehy Wormington was arrested in Denver, Colorado by U.S. Marshals on February 18, 2025. She is set to be brought back to North Carolina, where she is charged with 2nd-degree murder, felony child abuse, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
