Renowned Alabama artist dies at 85

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Clark Walker, the man who art critics say was one of the most well-known painters ever to come out of Alabama, has died at the age of 85.

Born in 1940, Walker grew up in the Jim Crow era. He became sought after for his paintings featuring muted colors and unique subjects.

He studied at the Art Students League in New York and the Skowhegan School in Maine, eventually making a name for himself by combining multiple art styles…
