Man charged with murder in Rural Hall shooting death, Forsyth County sheriff says

RURAL HALL, N.C. (WGHP) — A man has been arrested and charged in connection to a homicide investigation that happened Saturday in the 7000 block of Lynn Forest Drive, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Gregory Franklin Hanes, 65, of Tobaccoville, was arrested Saturday evening and charged with one count of felony murder in connection to the shooting death of Luther Sterling Blakely, 43, of Winston-Salem.

Hanes is in custody in the Forsyth County Detention Center under no bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 24.
