Lubbock-Con opened its doors at 10 a.m. Saturday to cosplayers, vendors and members of the public alike to join the comic convention and partake in multiple events throughout the day at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.
The yearly convention is a community-driven non-profit event that invites local creators to come and interact with the rest of the community, while putting together performances, competitions and more for guests to enjoy, according to the Lubbock-Con website.
“I had a lot of fun,” said attendee Samantha Horner. “It was cool seeing all of the vendors and the voice actors. I really enjoyed seeing the costume contest and the cosplayers in general.”
In one of the first performances, the Texas Tech Folk Orchestra performed what Christopher Smith, director of the orchestra, called a “flash mob” in the vendor area. Members began playing from different points in the room and joined to form a train that traveled through the Civic Center…
