Uptown Porchfest returns for third year in August

Uptown Porchfest, which takes place in the Wedge neighborhood (let’s not rehash that debate), is primed for another year of neighborly concertgoing.

Organizers announced this week that the Minneapolis neighborhood event centered around live music will return on Aug. 16 from 1–5 p.m.

Each year, hundreds gather in the streets of Minneapolis for a rolling series of concerts that take place in yards and porches. It’s a big undertaking, but its charm is in feeling casual with residents walking between homes, sharing a drink, and catching performances from dozens of locals.

While other Porchfest events have been running longer — Kingfield Porchfest celebrated its 10th anniversary last year — the Uptown Porchfest has become a favorite, with more than 65 bands playing across more than 60 porches in years past…
