Minneapolis Police Seize “Ghost Gun” in Traffic Stop, Driver Booked for Manufacturing Untraceable Firearm

A recent operation by the Minneapolis Police Department led to the discovery of illegal firearms, including a so-called “ghost gun,” during a routine traffic stop. The department took to social media to inform the public of the incident.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department’s post, officers stopped a car for an unspecified reason and immediately noticed the presence of a firearm underneath the driver’s seat. Upon further investigation, they found that the gun was a ghost gun— a term used to describe privately made firearms that lack serial numbers and are difficult to trace. The driver was reportedly cooperative and confessed to manufacturing the weapon. Subsequently, they were booked at Hennepin County Jail, and the ghost gun, along with parts of a second firearm, were taken into evidence.

The issue of untraceable firearms has been a growing concern, with law enforcement agencies across the nation grappling with the emerging challenge.
