[1] DWI cases possibly related to scandal dismissed – 13th Judicial District Attorney Barbara Romo recently announced her office is dropping 7 cases connected to New Mexico State Police officer Toby LaFave, who was placed on leave amid a continued federal probe. So far seven cases has been dismissed in the 13th Judicial District, covering Valencia, Sandoval and Cibola counties.
[2] 1 dead following APD officer-involved shooting – APD is continuing to investigate a domestic dispute that turned into a deadly police shooting. Foothill area command officers responded to a call at a home near Mountain Rd. and Claudine St. While APD has not named the suspect, they say they made contact with a man who fled the scene after officers advised him he was under arrest. APD says officers gave commands for the man to drop a gun before several shots were fired. No officers were injured and the man died at the scene. APD Chief Harold Medina says the man was a convicted felon and should not have had a firearm.
[3] Record warmth for some in New Mexico & even drier – Near-record to record high temperatures will be widespread today with very sunny skies, dry air, as well as the elevated fire threat for some as temperatures will mostly reach the 60s, 70s, and 80s from northwest to southeast from high to low elevation throughout the afternoon.
