Caddo Parish moving forward with plan for new speeding cameras

SHREVEPORT, La – More speeding tickets could be in your future if you go over the speed limit in Caddo Parish.

Traffic studies are being done right now for locations of those cameras that have been recommended by the Caddo Commission and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Blue Line Solutions, the same company the city of Shreveport used to put cameras around school zones, has been chosen for this project. There’s been a lot of controversy and consternation about how those cameras were rolled out. Changes were made, including dropping fees to appeal a speeding ticket.

There has been considerable talk between the parish administrator and the commissioners about making these new cameras much less controversial and problematic for drivers.

“Before the first citizen possibly gets a ticket, because we know they are going to slow down as a result of this, they will know the rules of the game prior to getting a ticket correct?” said Ronald Cothran, District 10 commissioner.

“Yes, before we go live we will have our processes worked out. They will know the cameras are up and running and working. We’re not trying to surprise anyone,” said commission Administrator Erica Bryant…
