What started out as the International Afro-American Museum located in a home and mobile trailer is now known as one of the largest institutions of its kind in the country. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History created the “I, Charles H. Wright: My Story” exhibition that tells the story of how the museum came to be.
“From his voice he tells the story of when he was born, his childhood, why he wanted to be a Doctor, how he got into civil service and being an advocate during the civil rights movement,” said Jennifer Evans, Senior Director of Exhibitions & Collections at the Charles H. Wright Museum.
She said the exhibition will run through January 17, 2026 and is the kick off to several celebrations taking place this year to honor the museum’s 60th anniversary…
