Tuesday wind storm knocks power out for nearly 70k homes in Kitsap

Nearly 70,000 Puget Sound Energy customers across Kitsap County are without power Tuesday morning after the peninsula bore the brunt of a wind storm, knocking trees and wires to the ground across the community.

Kaylee Petrie of Bremerton woke up at 3:30 a.m., when a tree on the property where she lives crashed through her room, waking Petrie and her four-year-old daughter. The two were not hurt, other than a few scratches from collapsed drywall that fell into the bedroom, and by morning were waiting for representatives of the American Red Cross to help them with safe accommodations.

“It was really scary though, a branch just came right through my ceiling,” Petrie said…
