Gov. Mike DeWine’s refusal to request pandemic funds sparks $900M controversy in Ohio: Legally Speaking

CLEVELAND — Legal analysis: A court ruling that Governor Mike DeWine must ask for unused federal benefits that have been set aside for hundreds of thousands of Ohioans has been put on hold.

Legally Speaking, this could make the case completely irrelevant, and could cost Ohioans more than $900 million.

On Monday, the same judge that ordered DeWine to ask for Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) funds sided with the governor, saying the state is entitled to a stay, or a pause, on that order while it’s appealed….
