Alachua teen arrested for organizing group attack on inmate at Juvenile Detention Facility

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Demarion Eylon Queen, 18, of Alachua, was booked into the Alachua County Jail in early February and charged with battery on a person detained in a correctional facility after allegedly organizing a group attack on another inmate at the Juvenile Detention Facility in June 2024.

According to his arrest report, Queen allegedly popped the lock on the victim’s pod and woke him up to ask him what side of town he was from; when the victim said he was from Village Green, Queen allegedly told the other inmates the victim was from “a rival side of town” and then let the other inmates into the victim’s pod, where he and at least three other inmates reportedly punched and kicked the victim.

The victim reportedly curled into a fetal position while the other inmates stomped and kicked him; staff reportedly tried to move the victim, but Queen and the other inmates allegedly attacked the victim again, punching him repeatedly in the head and body.
