A murder suspect now mounting a defense-of-others defense initially told investigators he wasn’t involved in the fatal shooting almost a year ago at a central Toledo after-hours club.
But he changed his story when they told him there was evidence he knew more than he was allowing, detectives said during trial Tuesday.
Toledo police Sgt. Roy Kennedy and Detective Justin Hawkins both said DeAndre Koonce wasn’t told outright that he shot Caprise Arnett during a March 3 melee inside the Envy’Us Club in the 1400 block of Belmont Avenue when they interviewed him 17 days later.
