Large drug bust at Grand Coteau restaurant nets $100K in drugs

GRAND COTEAU, La. ( KLFY ) — A Lafayette man was arrested Monday after allegedly delivering a large amount of fentanyl to a local restaurant, authorities said.

Officials arrested Jarvonte Vondell Francis, 32, on the following charges:

  • Possession with intent to distribute fentanyl
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs
  • Transactions involving drug offenses
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Francis during a narcotics operation at a restaurant in Grand Coteau after authorities were told Francis was making a large delivery of fentanyl there. Officers conducted a traffic stop and found four ounces of suspected fentanyl with a street value of $46,000, a Glock 9mm pistol and $3,820 in cash in Francis’ possession, according to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Officials said they then learned of a “stash house” located on Birch Drive in Lafayette. With the assistance of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was obtained and the following items found:

  • 4 ounces of fentanyl with a street value of $64,000
  • One Browning Buck Mark .22 caliber pistol
  • One Diamondback AR-15 style pistol w/30 round magazine
