Littleton man killed in Berthoud Pass avalanche lived to ‘powder surf’

LITTLETON, Colo — A 50-year-old Colorado man was killed in an avalanche on Berthoud Pass over the weekend while enjoying one of his greatest passions, powder surfing.

Nathan Ginn died when he was caught in an avalanche on Colorado Mines Peak, east of Berthoud Pass, while riding a snowboard with no bindings. It’s a sport known as powder surfing.

“He did talk about, well, if he had to go out, that probably dying doing powder surfing would be his preference,” his twin brother Philip Ginn said…
