Vet Finds 24 Socks, 2 Hair Ties, a Onesie, and Other ‘Jaw-Dropping’ Items Inside Ailing 7-Month-Old Puppy

A young Bernese mountain dog named Luna is recovering from multiple procedures after vets in Los Angeles found dozens of items in her stomach

A dog in the Los Angeles area is recovering from extensive surgery after her veterinarian pulled 24 socks and half a dozen other items from her stomach.

According to an Instagram post from the Corona Animal Emergency Center, located 50 miles outside of Los Angeles in Corona, Calif., a 7-month-old Bernese mountain dog named Luna was rushed to the hospital after her owners noticed she was vomiting and had a “firm, distended abdomen.”

“What we found was jaw-dropping,” the hospital wrote, alongside x-ray photos of Luna’s stomach full of clothing, plus photos of her in recovery and a snap of a veterinarian, Dr. Jenny, posing with everything that was found in her stomach — including “24 socks, one scrunchie, two hair ties, one shoe insert, one small onesie (from her intestines!) and miscellaneous cloth pieces.”

The veterinary clinic confirmed that Luna had undergone a gastrotomy to clear her stomach and an enterotomy to remove the onesie, which was causing an intestinal obstruction.
