Jaicarious Grace, the subject of a botched high-speed chase by Orlando police that killed a young mother in 2023 , was finally arrested Wednesday, after a lengthy delay that deepens the questions surrounding law enforcement’s role in the tragic incident.
The 24 pages of reports filed in Orange County court show for the first time that the charges against Grace, 29, among them vehicular manslaughter and felony marijuana possession, were submitted to the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office on Sep. 10 of last year. That’s 19 months after the incident, but a mere nine days after an Orlando Sentinel report revealed the circumstances of Delmy Alvarez’s death when Grace fled an officer and crashed into her, which Orlando Police had obscured.
Yet it took another five months — and a new state attorney, Monique Worrell — before a warrant was issued for Grace’s arrest…
