Man who claimed to serve more than a million meals in Willmar pleads guilty as part of Feeding our Future fraud scheme

MINNEAPOLIS — A man who claimed to run a meal site in Willmar is now the 41st person convicted as part of the Feeding our Future fraud scheme.

Abdikadir Ainashe Mohamud pleaded guilty to wire fraud for his part in the scheme that prosecutors say exploited a federally funded child nutrition program during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the DOJ, Mohamud claimed to run a meal site in Willmar, a town with a population of about 21,000. There, he and his co-conspirators claimed to have served approximately 1.6 million meals to children in a little over a year. Stigma Free Willmar was sponsored by Feeding our Future…
