Man dies after struggle with airport security in Lihu’e

LIHU’E, Hawaii (Island News) – The Kauai Police Department (KPD) responded to a disorderly complaint at Lihu’e Airport early Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025.

KPD reported that at approximately 4:30 a.m., Officers responded to the airport in response to a request for assistance from Airport Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) regarding a disorderly man.

According to the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), the LEOs were called to respond to reports of a disruptive man in the ticket lobby at the main terminal of the Lihu’e Airport.

Upon arrival, KPD found a 53-year-old man who was being detained by two Airport LEOs and an airline employee. KPD found that the man was in need of immediate medical attention and began doing CPR, along with a dose of Naloxone (Narcan)…
